Kristin’s Hope is a not-for-profit organization founded in memory of Kristin L. Short, 1985-2011. Kristin Short had dedicated her life to God in order to abolish slavery/human trafficking. She was a small town girl with big dreams of rescuing those enslaved. Kristin left her home in Elkins, West Virginia on July 4, 2011. Kristin’s car crossed the median and collided with a tractor trailer. She was killed instantly.
Kristin’s work with Abolish Slavery served as a reminder to her family and friends regarding the tough work of freeing victims of human trafficking she was so passionate about. Her work continues through Kristin’s Hope, founded by her mother, Kim, step-father, Jamie, and two brothers: Joseph and James. It is no coincidence that she took her flight on July 4: Independence Day. Independence for all who are enslaved was her heart’s desire and through Abolish Slavery and Kristin’s Hope her work continues.
